Andrew DeVito, a 17-year-old from Kenosha, is a force to be reckoned with in the world of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). While his peers are navigating the typical high school routine, Andrew dedicates seven hours a day to rigorous training, all while representing the United States on the international stage. His journey is a testament to the power of ambition and hard work, and it's a story that deserves to be told.
Andrew's dedication to his craft is evident in his impressive record. He's a national MMA champion with an unblemished 10-0 record in the United States. But his achievements don't stop there. He's also a bronze medalist at the prestigious GAMMA MMA World Championships in Brazil and the UWW World Championships in Greece, both under the wing of an Olympic-recognized international federation. These accomplishments are a clear indication of his talent and determination.
His long-term goal is nothing short of becoming a UFC champion. He spends his days training at gyms across the Midwest, including in Chicago, where he trains alongside some of the best fighters in the world. This exposure to top-tier competition is a crucial part of his development, pushing him to reach new heights.
"It’s all I think about," Andrew said. "I’m in the gym like seven hours a day. I’m either driving to training, eating and recovering, or training again. I just wanna win. I just wanna be the best." His unwavering focus and dedication are what set him apart, and they're the driving force behind his success.
Representing his hometown on the world stage is a source of immense pride for Andrew. "I’m honored. I’m very grateful to be representing my community, the U.S., Kenosha, everything," he said. "It’s more than just me. It feels nice fighting for something bigger than myself. It puts more pressure on me, but it also makes me want to work harder."
On September 8th, Andrew will fly to Colombia to compete in the Pan-American Championships, representing Team USA. His preparation is meticulous, based on the belief that putting 100% into every single day is the key to success. "I know the hardest part is the training," he said. "If I put 100% in every single day, there’s no way I won’t win. It’s almost inevitable. I trust my training and my coaches."
